The full form of CLAT is the Common Law Admission Test. CLAT is the national-level entrance exam conducted for admission to undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) law programs at 22 National Law University (NLUs) and other affiliated institutions. What is CLAT Exam?
The Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) is a national-level entrance exam for admission to 5 year integrated LLB (UG) and 1 year LLM (PG). CLAT exam is conducted to take admission in 24 National Law Universities for UG courses and 21 National Law Universities for PG courses. The exam is organised by the Consortium of NLUs. CLAT assesses candidates’ proficiency in English,, current affairs, legal reasoning, logical reasoning and quantitative technique for UG courses and constitute and other areas of law for PG courses.
The CLAT examination is conducted offline. The exam consists of 150 multiple-choice questions while PG exam includes both objective and subjective questions. CLAT Eligibility for Undergraduate (UG)
- The candidate must be qualified 10 + 2 or an equivalent examination from recognize board or university with 45% marks.
- Candidates belonging to SC/ST must have 40% marks.
CLAT Eligibility for Postgraduate (PG)
- The candidate should have a LLB degree or equivalent examination with 50% marks or its equivalent grade.
- For postgraduate the candidate who belongs to the reserve category needs 45% marks.
