According to Islamic tradition, Prophet Ibrahim, who was a great devotee of Allah, had a dream in which Allah asked him to sacrifice his most precious thing in the world. In obedience to Allah, Ibrahim willing to sacrifice his beloved son as an act of obedience to God. The act of complete trust and devotion of Ibrahim. However, just before the sacrifice, Allah replaced his son with a Ram (sheep), rewarding ibrahims obedience. This symbolises faith, devotion and submission to God’s will.

That is why, on this day Muslim Muslim perform Qurbani (animal sacrifice) to remember Ibrahim’s act. Then the meet is divided in 3 parts one for family, followed by friend and poor and needy people.
