CSIR NET Eligibility Criteria 2024

To be eligible for CSIR NET exam candidate must meet certain eligibility criteria set by the National Testing Agency (NTA). Generally, the candidate must have masters degree or equivalent qualification in the science stream from a recognized University, with a minimum of 55% of, OBC and EWS while 50% for SC/ST/and PWD candidates.   • M.Sc. or equivalent degree/ Integrated BS-MS/ BS-4 years/ BE/ B. Tech/ B. Pharma/MBBS with at least 55% marks for General (UR)/General-EWS and 50% for OBC (NCL)/SC/ST, Third gender and Persons with Disability (PwD) candidates.
  • B.Sc. (Hons.) or equivalent degree holders or students enrolled in IntegratedMS-PhD program with at least 55% marks for General(UR)/General-EWS; 50% marks for OBC (NCL)/SC/ST, Thirdgender, Persons with Disability (PwD) candidates are also eligible to apply.
  • Candidates possessing only Bachelor’s degree are eligible to apply only for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and not for Lectureship (LS)/Assistant Professor.
  • B.E./ B.S./ B.Tech./ B.Pharma/ MBBS final year/result awaited candidates are eligible to apply for fellowship only. These candidates will not be eligible for Lectureship/Assistant professor. B.Sc. (Hons.) final year/Result awaited candidates are not eligible to apply

Age Limit (For JRF)

The CSIR UGC NET upper age limit for JRF (NET) is 28 years. The National Testing Agency will also provide the age relaxation for Reserve category candidates for Up to 5 years relaxation for SC/ST, Persons with Disability (PwD), female applicants, and candidates belonging to the Third Gender. Up to 3 years for OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates. Also, there is no upper age limit for applying for the Lectureship/Assistant Professorship.
