The full form of UGC NET is the University Grant Commission National Eligibility Test. NTA UGC NET is a National Eligibility Test conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on behalf of the University Grant Commission (UGC). UGC NET 2024 Eligibility

UGC NET Education Qualification

  • Aspirants who have secured at least 55% marks in Master’s Degree OR equivalent examination from universities/institutions recognized by UGC are eligible for this test. For OBC/SC/ST/PwD/Transgender candidates, the UGC NET eligibility is 50% marks in Post graduation.
  • Candidates who are pursuing their Master’s degree/ equivalent course/ candidates who have appeared for their final year exam and whose result is still awaited or candidates whose qualifying examinations have been delayed are also eligible to appear in the UGC NET Exam.
  • PhD holders whose master’s degree was completed on September 19, 1991, are eligible for a 5% relaxation in aggregate marks.
  • The candidate must have studied the subject at the postgraduate level for which they are appearing in the NET exam.

UGC NET Age Limit

  • For the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), the upper age limit is 30 years.
  • There is a relaxation in the upper age limit for OBC/SC/ST/PwD/Transgender candidates, and for women applicants, there is a relaxation of up to 5 years.
  • There is no upper age limit for applying for the Assistant Professorship as per UGC.
