UP RTO
RTO Uttar Pradesh is a government organisation that work for regulating the road transport system. Function of UP RTO
The RTO manages various road transport systems in Uttar Pradesh. The main work of the RTO (Regional Transport Office) given below.
- Vehicle registration: The RTO is responsible for the registration of new vehicles, issuing registration certificates 9RC0, and providing vehicle number plates. They issue both permanent and Temporary vehicle registrations.
- Issuing driving licence: The UP RTO issues learner licence, permanent driving licence, commercial driving licence and licence renewal and duplicate.
- Road tax collection: RTO UP collect road tax once in the lifetime from the vehicle owners as a part of registration process.
- Permit insurance: they permit insurance to the commercial vehicles like bus, taxies trucks.
- Enforcement of traffic rules: RTO offices ensure the road safety norms.
How to Get Permanent Registration Certificate in Uttar Pradesh
You can get the permanent vehicle registration certificate from the UP RTO or the Parivahan portal. The permanent vehicle registration is valid for 15 years. Here is the process to get a permanent RC for your vehicle.
- Fill the form 20 and submit it to the transport department. Form 20 can be collected from the UP RTO or you can also download it from the RTO UP official website at https://uptransport.upsdc.gov.in/en-us/.
- You have to apply before the temporary RC expires.
- Submit the documents such as sales certificate, Roadlines declaration, attested copies of car insurance papers, address proof, vehicle chassis number and other relevant documents.
- The vehicle will be inspected by RTO officials.
- After completing the inspection, you will get the vehicle registration certificate.

Documents required f permanent registration in UP RTO
In order to get the permanent registration certificate (RC) you will need this necessary documents. The important documents to get permanent registration certificate from Uttar Pradesh RTO is given below.
- Form 20 or application form
- Sales certificate in Form 21.
- Valid insurance certificate
- Original sales certificate
- Proof of address like ration card, aadhar card, voter ID card or passport.
- Pollution under control (PUC)
- 3 Passport size photograph
- Temporary registration certificate
How to Renew Registration Certificate in Uttar Pradesh RTO
After 15 years of the continuous use of motor vehicle it is mandatory for the vehicle owner to renew the registration certificate. You need to renew your registration certificate within 60 day of its expiry. Follow the steps given below to renew your RC to the Uttar Pradesh RTO.
- Fill the application form or form 20
- Submit the application form to the UP RTO.
- Now Summit all necessary documents to the transport department.
- Pay the vehicle tax (if any).
- Your motor vehicle will be inspected by the authority.
- After the inspection by RTO officials your permanent RC will renew for 5 years.
